Albino died in 1939 in Treville and before death he wrote the following epitaph (in Piedmontese dialect) for his gravestone. It's visible in the oldest part of the Treville cemetery, in which the the Holy Sacrament Confraternity members (the Batù) are buried:
Albino's poems were originally written in small books, made of religious calendars sheets. They have different shapes and are preserved in the St. Ambrogio Parish Church archives.
On the first page of every book he wrote the
following warning: «I beg you to preserve the present writing, to not
destroy it, rather to give it. Its destruction is an offence for me» "The Song of Treville" is dubiously ascribed to him. This song was written on scattered sheets distributed to the people from Treville and sung by them during pilgrimages or walks. The copy shown below is probably the only one that survives. |
